July 2009 we organize a folkloristic dance festival in Schagen (Holland). Participation in this 10th Folk Festival Schagen is only for very good and spectacular groups.

The group may consist of 30 persons including drivers, music and supervision. The group must consist of dancers and musicians and the ages must be between 16 and 50. 6 foreign groups may participate at the festival. Besides participation in our festival we also offer the possibility to participate in another Dutch festival which will precede our festival. see also participation rules

Sunday 5 july: arrival first groups

Monday 6 july ; arrival groups

The official programme will start

Tuesday 7 July
at 16.00 hours All foreign participants are welcomed by Schagen's Mayor and Aldermen at the townhall

Wednesday 8 July at 20.00 hours
the Sparta Sports centre performance of all participating groups.

On Thursday 9 July
during the Day of Dance, you will be able to get an impression of the presentations of all groups around the local Market Square. The program starts at 11.00 with a procession of all the groups . At 12.00 the groups give shows at different places in the centre of Schagen

Friday 10July
20.00 performance Sparta Hall "Folklore-Living History"

Saturday 11 July
10.00 - 16.00 Folkloristic market at the parking place Sparta Hall
10.30 - Do-it-yourself dance dance with de groups
14.00 - matinee
20.00 - is the final night of the Folklore Living History festival with fabulous performances of all the participating groups, held at the Sparta Sports Centre.

The festival has acquired international fame in the world of folkoristic dance and music. During the previous 9 festivals Schagen was visited by more than 36 groups from many countries from all over the world. From outside Europe we welcomed groups from China, Australia, USA, Canada, Kalmukkia, Nigeria, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Chili, Kazakstan and from Europe, groups from Austria, Poland, Tsjechia, Estonia, Litiuania, Switserland, Turkey, Spain, Germany, Italy, Macedonia, Greece and various Russian Republics visited the festival.
