Participation Rules of the SIFF Festival Schagen

SIFF is a member of the IOV and respects and follows the rules of this folklore organisation

Festival

SIFF organizes a two-years international Folkloristic Dance Festival:

  1. In the third week of July; from Monday till Sunday
  2. It’s in a sport shall, in several old-people’s home and in the open air.
  3. Day of arrival: Monday or Thursday; day of departure: Sunday 12.00 o’clock

Participants

Folklore groups from all over the world can participate in the festival: maximum 6 groups.

Group  Size:

  Music: 

 

A participating folklore group should have 25-40 members (inclusive musicians, leaders, drivers etc) and begin with the age of 16.

  1. All members must have a task in the participation c.q. shows of the group ‘tourists’ (members who have nothing to do with the shows) will not be access.
  2. The group have to dance to ‘live music’ (musicians); recorded music will not accepted.

Performance 

         Hostess's:

  1. The performances are in a sports Hal, in the open air in the centre and somewhere else.
  1. Each group will be accompanied by two hostess's, who are their guides during the festival.

Lodgings

  1. The members of the group will stay with host families in Schagen and the villa’s around Schagen.

  2. 2 room mates stay with 1 host family; The groups should put the pairs in the participants.

  1. A host family is not a hotel; The room mates are considered to be members of the family and to respect the rules of house

  1. Host families are not being paid for their hospitality by SIVO or any organization

Costs

  1. The costs of transport to and from Schagen are for the groups own account.
  2. All the costs in Holland in relation to the festival are on the account of SIFF; transports, lodgings, meals, drinks, excursion.

Insurances

  1. Groups have to be insured against all the normal risks of life: Illnesses, hospitalization, accidents, damages, third part risks, urgent home travel.
  2. SIFF can take no responsibility to these risks and to their financial and/or other consequences.

Risks

  1. Groups participate om their own risks.
  2. SIFF will take all the measures to avoid risks for participants, the workers and audience.

Politics/ Religion 

SIFF respects any opinion concerning religion and politics, but does not allow Religious or politics activity from anyone in the dance area (the parcours)

Damages

Any activity, either from anyone or any group that could damage the festival is not allowed.

Tourists

‘Tourists’ in the group will not be accepted by SIFF; they will have to take care of own lodgings, meals, etc. SIFF is not responsible at all for these people.
